The impact of using covers on the performance of Air Source Heat Pump (ASHP) units is a common question among consumers and industry professionals alike.

However, until recently, there has been limited research addressing this topic comprehensively. At Air Source Covers Ltd, we invested significant time and resources into developing our cover designs through extensive in-house testing.

Since our launch, we have been dedicated to conducting ongoing evaluations in collaboration with leading ASHP and HVAC experts across the country.

Our objective was to identify the optimal design elements that would not only provide robust protection for ASHP/HVAC units but also ensure they maintain their operational performance under various conditions. These partnerships have allowed us to rigorously assess the performance of our covers and their effect on the Coefficient of Performance (COP), an essential measure of efficiency for heat pump systems.

To formalise our findings, we engaged BSRIA to evaluate our standard range of covers in compliance with the BS EN 14511:2018 standards.

The test results indicated that utilising our standard range of covers resulted in an insignificant reduction in COP, affirming the effectiveness of our industry-leading designs.
